6 RULES OF THE HUNT

  • CHECK BACK OFTEN
New product hits the floor every day through October 31. Inventory changes constantly, so another visit means another chance to find the piece that completes your look.

  • BUY THE SILHOUETTE FIRST
Get the shape right first, whether that’s the coat, the dress or the boots. Spend your last few dollars on the one detail that makes people say the name out loud.

  • SKIP THE COSTUME RACK
The winning pieces are almost never in the Halloween section. Look through formalwear, uniforms, bedding and housewares instead.

  • HAVE A SECOND STORE IN MIND
Eleven stores, eleven totally separate inventories. A twenty-minute drive can be the difference between settling and finding the thing.

  • IGNORE THE SIZE ON THE TAG
Sizing is inconsistent, and many pieces are intentionally oversized. Hold them against your shoulders and judge the silhouette. At $6, a near miss is worth trying.

  • ASK WHAT COLOR IS ON SALE
Stores run a rotating color-tag discount. Ask at the register before you hit the racks, because it can take a $25 look down to $15.
