Goodwill’s Vocational Services programs include assessment, remedial education, job training, job coaching, career placement, and supported employment for individuals with various barriers to employment, including welfare-dependency, homelessness and illiteracy. Graduates emerge as skilled, reliable workers and are hired by businesses, government agencies, and not-for-profit organizations. Funds for our Vocational Services program are generated through local, state, and federal grants, corporations, foundations and the United Way.
Goodwill’s Vocational Services programs serves the welfare-to-work population, the homeless, and the illiterate by providing them an opportunity to acquire job skills and engage in gainful employment. Most of this population lacks education, marketable skills, or any prior work experience. For many of the people Goodwill serves, this is often their only opportunity to become self-supporting, tax-paying wage earners rather than recipients of public assistance.
