At Goodwill we offer a full spectrum of job training services to ensure our
client's success, these are the services we offer:
Retail Service Clerk Training
This is an employment skills training program for individuals with disabilities. A job coach trains clients at a potential employer’s site for four weeks. Training focuses on soft skills training, proper lifting techniques, stocking, merchandise display, operating a cash register and customer service skills.
Warehouse Worker Training
This is a job training program for individuals with disabilities. A job coach trains clients on medium duty warehouse work for six to nine weeks at a distribution center in Ellis County. Transportation assistance is arranged for program participants. Successful graduates of the program who meet productivity standards are hired on by the distribution center.
Work/Vocational Adjustment Training
Provides individuals with little or no work experience a quasi-work environment to learn the soft skills of work. The individual is able to experience work with the support of a case manager to assess and work through the individual’s weaknesses. Individuals learn how to interact with coworkers and supervisors as well as what it means to be a successful employee.
Personal and Social Adjustment Training
Individuals learn to navigate the social aspects of a work environment. Individuals learn concepts such as how to cope with criticism, conflict resolution, and problem-solving using a curriculum developed by Goodwill Industries International.
Vocational Evaluations
A certified evaluator works with the client to identify their vocational field of interest, strengths, weaknesses, aptitudes , transferable skill sets and any accommodations and work supports necessary for the individual to be successfully employed. A comprehensive evaluation is conducted over two days and the results are shared with the referring agency and are used as a tool for developing an individual employment plan for the client.
Resume development
Placement staff helps the client develop a professional resume and cover letter.
Interview skills
A job skills trainer coaches a client for acing an interview. Participants attend mock interviews that are taped and the team reviews how the client can improve their presentation skills and body language.
Job skills training
A job coach trains a new employee on their job duties using job aids. The job coach assists the client for a full shift during the first two weeks of employment and the job coaching assistance fades as the client becomes engaged and capable of handling their job assignments.
Occupational skills training
The customer service support training program includes a computer literacy program certified through DCCCD. This short term pre-vocational training program is certified through Workforce Solutions of Greater Dallas. Clients learn Microsoft XP, Word, Excel, Outlook, and Data Entry skills.
Job placement and retention services
Clients work with the placement staff to identify jobs that suit their employment goals. Our staff follows with the client and interacts with the employer to provide retention services.
