About Goodwill

About Goodwill | History | Facts & Figures | Americans with Disabilities Act | How do we Rank?
Goodwill’s programs work so people can. Our services provide opportunities for individuals with disabilities or disadvantages to become independent, self-supporting members of the Dallas community.
The following describes our three primary programs:
Vocational Services include assessment, remedial education, job training, and placement for people with disabilities or disadvantaging conditions.
Donated Goods program offers employment through the recycling of over 26 million pounds of donated clothing and household items each year. Disabled and disadvantaged employees assist with the collection, processing and sale of goods.
Industrial Services provide training opportunities and employment for individuals with severe disabilities. These Goodwill employees earn wages through packaging and light production.

Don't Be Mislead

Many times, for-profit companies mislead donors and shoppers by operating thrift stores and soliciting donations using the name of a well-known charity. The donor is led to believe that his/her donations and the money they spend in the thrift stores directly benefits the charity the for-profit company represents. The reality is that the for-profit operation may donate only a portion (sometimes as little as 5%) back to the charity. Although this is not true with ALL charity-related thrift stores, we believe that donors should be informed.

You can feel confident in donating to and shopping at Goodwill Industries of Dallas. One hundred percent of the revenue generated by donations to Goodwill Industries of Dallas is used by Goodwill to provide programs that put disabled and disadvantaged people to work!
