The most important result of Goodwill's programs may be the renewed sense of purpose and dignity disabled and disadvantaged individuals experience from becoming self-sufficient and productive members of our community. In addition, transitioning persons dependent upon public assistance to independence has significant economic value. This value includes the wages and benefits earned, taxes paid and public subsidies saved and multiplied over time.
The following facts illustrate the efficiency of our programs.
- 70,000 disabled and disadvantaged Dallas residents have been served since 1924
- 90% of the organizational budget is directed to programs and services
- $5.6 million in wages are paid annually; $1.2 million in taxes are received by the government.
- Goodwill Industries International is a network of 173 local, autonomous member organizations in the United States and Canada, and 24 other countries. This network assists over 544,000 individuals annually.
Goodwill Industries of Dallas is a United Way of Metropolitan Dallas agency.
